Girl basketball squads advance in tournament play | Prep sports

Both the Tahoma and Kentwood girls basketball teams advanced to the winner's bracket of the 4A district tournament on Thursday.

The Conquerors dominated Curtis by a score of 64-33 and moves on to face Bellarmine Prep at 2:45 p.m. at Puyallup High School on Saturday. The Bears escaped against Central Kitsap, 40-39, and battle Rogers High School at 6:30 p.m.

The boy's squads, however, both fell in the first round and now must win at least the next two games for a chance at advancing to regionals.

Tahoma lost to Curtis 53-58 and Kentwood dropped its matchup with Bellarmine Prep, 48-59.

The boy bears battle Emerald Ridge at 2:45 p.m. Saturday in Mt. Tahoma High School, and the Kentwood follows at 4:30 p.m. against Auburn.
