Basketball postseason roundup

The Kentwood girls basketball team took fifth in the 4A district tournament earning a spot in the regional games.

Kentwood will tipoff at 2 p.m. Saturday against Chiawana High from Pasco at Richland High School. The winner  advances to final eight state championship tournament.

The Conks beat  Kentridge 32-29 at Stadium Feb. 20 to advance to the 16-team regional tournament.

Sarah Toeaina led the Conks in scoring with 15 and Kate Kramer added six. Alycea DeLong, Zaria Jones, Ashley Rolsma each scored three and Jenny Johnson two.

Kentwood opened the district tournament with a 64-33 win over Curtis on Feb. 13. The girls lost to Bellarmine Prep 49-45 on Feb. 15 and beat Emerald Ridge 49-46 on Feb. 18.

Kentwood’s record is Kentwood 13-3 in the SPSL 4A conference and 19-5 overall.

Kentwood Boys

The Kentwood boys basketball season ended at the regional tournament following a 62-56 loss to Auburn on Feb. 15 at Mount Tahoma High.

The boys opened the tournament with a 59-48 loss to Bellarmine Prep.

Kentwood ended the season second in the SPSL North with a Kentwood 12-4 conference record and 15-8 overall.

Tahoma Girls

The Tahoma girls made a five game run in the 4A district tournament ending with a loss to Kentridge.

The Bears fell to Kentridge 50-48 Saturday at Auburn High in a loser out, winner to state game.

Tahoma opened the district series with a 40-39 win over Central Kitsap on Feb. 13. The girls lost to Mount Rainier 61-37 on Feb. 15 and then came back to beat Camas 47-41 on Feb. 18.

The Bears lost to Puyallup 58-55 on Feb. 20.

Tahoma Boys

Tahoma completed its season with two games at the regional tournament

Tahoma lost to Emerald Ridge 65-47 on Feb. 15 in a loser out game. The Bears opened the tournament with a 58-53 loss to Curtis on Feb. 13.
