Two Maple Valley youngsters finished strong in the USA Track and Field Championships held in Houston on July 27.

Brian Martinez, 12, and Faith Martinez, 10, finished fifth and sixth, respectively, in the 1500 meter race. To qualify for the event, both needed to finish near the top in the state meet and Regional Championship.

Brian, who won the state meet and finished second at regionals, finished with a time of 4:37, which was good enough for All-American status. Faith finished second at state, and won regionals. Her time of 5:23 also earned All-American status.
