Kentwood wins both games to earn trip to Safeco for state title shot | Baseball

The Kentwood High baseball team punched a ticket as one of the final four teams playing for the state title at Safeco Field.

The Conquerors lived up to their name, defeating Skyline 16-4 at Everett Stadium in the early game Saturday, May 22, and beating Mountlake Terrace 13-2 in the second game of the day.

Kentwood will face Federal Way 4 p.m. Friday, May 28, at Safeco in the state semifinals.

Austin Voth was the winning pitcher for the Conks against Skyline and Avery Kain picked up the win in the second game.

Zach Corpuz hit 3-5 with a double against Skyline and Kain went 3-4 at the dish with three RBIs

Bryant Van Engelenburg went 2-5 with one over the fence.

Against Mountlake Terrace, Corpuz hit 3-4 with a double and RBI and Kain went 2-4 with a home run and two RBIs

Voth hit one out, going 1-3 at the plate with three RBIs.
