Mizzen You was the favorite Friday and proved it with a five-length victory in the Auburn High School Class of ’68 Purse for fillies and mares at Emerald Downs.

With Kevin Krigger riding, Mizzen You ran 5 ½ furlongs in 1 minute, 3 2/5 seconds on a fast track and paid $3, $2.20, $2.20. Dan Markle is the trainer for owner Frank Krysinski.

Onlyinthemoonlight, ridden by Ricky Frazier, nosed out Snowbound Marquita for second place, and paid $3.40 and $3. Snowbound Marquita, the early leader ridden by Troy Stillwell, finished third and paid $3.60.

Perfect Pie, Maker Happy, Stelladelnorth, Niftys Crystal and House of Fury completed the order of finish.

A 4-year-old Washington-bred by Mizzen Mast, Mizzen You has hit the board in all five starts this year. She has an overall mark of 2-3-1 from nine starts with earnings of $23,943.

Friday, she raced in sixth place early, rallied outside on the turn, gained the lead in upper stretch and drew off.

“It’s always a pleasure to ride a winner,” said Krigger, who rode two winners and is up to sixth place in the jockeys’ standings with 37 wins. “Dan (Markle) just told me to hang on and enjoy the ride.”

Markle continued his fine season as well. The veteran trainer had a win and a second in two starts and is 15-23-16 in 79 overall starts. That translates to 19 percent wins and 68 percent in the money.
