The moment high school athletes have been waiting for has arrived.

Players can once again practice with their teams for the upcoming season.

Tahoma, Kentwood and Kentlake football begin the new season Friday, Sept. 2.

Tahoma travels to Federal Way to face the Eagles. The Conks travel to face Woodinville and Kentlake heads to Auburn to face the Mountainview Lions.

All three games are away and begin at 7 p.m.

Tahoma

Tony Davis returns for his 23 year at Tahoma coaching the Bears.

Last year Tahoma finished the season 2-2 in division play and 7-3 overall.

Three starters returning on offense for the Bears are center James Mathews, lineman Allister McKinnon and receiver Aidan Harmon.

On defense, backs Jerrel Chapman and Harmon along with linebacker Josh Smith return for the Bears.

Three former players from last season are currently playing at the collegiate level. Zach White is at the College of Idaho, Caleb Brown is at Idaho State and Amandre Williams is at the University of Washington.

Kentwood

The Conks are still led by head coach Michael Bush.

He said “the new league brings some excitement to our practice, preparing for the unknown.”

New to the Conks’ league this season is Hazen, Kennedy Catholic and Mount Rainier.

When looking ahead to the new season, Bush said the Conks weakness is the fact that there are only three returning starters from last season.

He added, there will be about six seniors starting game one. On the flip side, Bush also said that Kentwood’s youth is a strength as well as a weakness.

“This years coaching staff has an opportunity to mold these young players and help them grow,” he said.

A total of 27 players from last season graduated.

Including Brian Campbell who was the starting quarterback three years in a row. “His position is still up for grabs,” Bush said.

Players to keep an eye on this season, Bush said are Mason Glover, Stephen Watson, Alex Mcgeachy, Christian Duenas-Palaitia and Jacob Moore.
