Covington’s Jimmy Shane and the Miss HomeStreet hydroplane team – fresh from capturing the H-1 Unlimited National High Points championship – celebrated their title season with fans and supporters at a Seattle rally on Wednesday.

The celebration took place at the HomeStreet Bank downtown office.

After winning the recent San Diego Bayfair Bill Muncey Cup, Shane pulled away with a total 8,095 points for the season to secure the championship win over Bonney Lake’s J. Michael Kelly with 7,176 points.

“It’s been an exciting and eventful season, and we went into San Diego very confident about our chances,” Shane said. “Winning the national championship was a huge success, and I’m happy to share this win with my team, HomeStreet and Seattle.”

Fans posed with the bright blue hydroplane on display and greeted its championship driver.

“Seattle has such a long history of hydroplane racing, so we are really excited to share this win with the community,” said HomeStreet Bank CEO and President Mark K. Mason. “We look forward to continuing to take part in this rich tradition for years to come.”

Miss HomeStreet and Jimmy Shane will hit the water again for the 2017 H1 Unlimited racing season with races in Madison, Ind.; Tri-Cities; Seattle; Detroit; and San Diego, with potential races in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho and Phoenix, Ariz.
