The North Puget Sound League track and field meet began Wednesday at French Field.

The district meet begins May 18 at French Field.

The state meet begins May 25 at Mount Tahoma High School in Tacoma.

Kentwood and Kentlake participated in the Kent All City meet Friday at French Field.

The Kentwood boys and girls teams won. The boys scored 114 points and the girls 97.

For the Conks on the boys side, Daniel Gaik won the 400 meters in 51.43 seconds.

Harsimran Singh took the 800 in 2.00.58 and the 1,600 in 4.28.74.

Keetaan DeWitz won the 110 meters hurdles in 15.36 and the 300 in 40.82.

The Conks 400 meters relay team of Javareah Owens, Reese Paladin, Gaik and Omari Brown won in 44.11.

The 1,600 relay team of Gaik, Camden Phelps, DeWitz and Brown won in 3:32.93.

Christian Duenas-Palaita took the top prize in the shot put reaching 43 feet, 10 inches. He also won the discus hitting 140-04.

Zack Allen was best in the pole vault clearing 13-00.

Mason Glover won the long jump with 21-05.50 and the triple jump at 41-09.

For the Kentwood girls Nicole Soleim won the 1,600 in 5:21.56 and the 3,200 in 11:51.62.

Ayanna Hollis won the 100 hurdles in 16.40 and the 300 in 46.92.

The 1,600 relay team of Sydney Shenk, Lindsay Bell, Skyler Pollak and Hollis won in 4:16.77.

Nicole Ajayi won the high jump in 5-02.

For the Falcons Jordan Taylor won the javelin in 144-04.

Jordan Fong won the shot put for the girls reaching 41-09, the discus at 128-06 and the javelin at 118-06.

Tahoma competed in the Nike/Jesuit Twilight Relays at Jesuit High School in Portland, Ore. April 28.

Sprinter Aliya Wilson took the top step in the 100 meters in 11.73.

The Bears 400 meters relay team of Tierra Wilson Olivia Ribera, Alisha Wilson and Aliya Wilson won in 46.34.

The 800 meters relay team Aliya Wilson, Alisha Wilson, Wilson and Ribera 1:41.27.

Ginny Mehl won the discus at 131.07.

BASEBALL

This week the West Central District 3/Southwest District 4 showdown begins as the 4A prep baseball boys battle for a ticket to the state tournament.

Kentlake ended at the top of the North Puget Sound League, Cascade Division with a 12-2 division record and 14-5 overall. Kentlake played its opening game of the tournament Tuesday, beating Sumner 5-0 at Heritage Park in Puyallup. The Falcons play Puyallup 10 a.m. Saturday at Art Wright Field.

Kentwood took second in the division with a 10-4, 14-5.

The Conks also opened Tuesday at Propstra Stadium in Vancouver, Wash. against Skyview.

Tahoma took fourth with a 9-5, 13-6 record.

The Bears played Curtis at Art Wright Field Tuesday. The game is loser out. If Tahoma wins it plays 7 p.m. Wednesday at Art Wright Field. The Bears would play the loser of Kennedy Catholic and Federal Way. The game is a loser out. The winner plays 1 p.m. Saturday at Heritage Park.

If Kentwood wins it plays Saturday at Art Wright field. If the Conks lose, the next game is Wednesday and is loser out.

SOCCER

The district soccer tournament began Tuesday and ends Saturday.

The Kentwood boys won the division with a 10-2-2 division record and 10-4-2 overall.

Tahoma took second with a record of 9-2-3, 9-3-3.

Kentlake finished seventh with 3-10-1, 4-11-1.

Tahoma played Thursday in the district tournament at home against Auburn Mountainview. It is a loser out game.

Kentwood was scheduled to play Thursday at Auburn Memorial Stadium in a loser out game. The opponent was not listed as of the press deadline.

If Tahoma wins it plays 6 p.m. Saturday at home against the winner of Battle Ground and Decatur.

The Conks play 7 p.m. Saturday at French Field if it wins Wednesday. The Saturday game is against the winner of South Kitsap and Camas.
