TRACK & FIELD

Tahoma

The Tahoma Bears track and field team continues its tradition of excellence heading into the state meet.

The girls won the 4A district meet Saturday at French Field with a score of 106 points. The boys took fourth with 54 points.

The girls won the district title for the second consecutive year.

The next hurdle for the Tahoma team is the state meet title at Mount Tahoma High, 4634 S 74th St, Tacoma.

At district meet in track events junior Olivia Ribera won the 100 meters in 12.04 seconds. Freshman Aliya Wilson ran second in 12.10 and Tierra Wilson, junior, was fourth in 12.41.

Ribera and Aliya Wilson ran first and second in the 200 in 24.79 for Ribera and 25.12 for Wilson. Tierra Wilson took fifth in 25.55.

The girls 800 relay team took first in 1:41.08 with Alisha Wilson, Tierra Wilson, Aliya Wilson and Ribera running.

Tierra Wilson, Ribera, Alisha Wilson and Aliya Wilson ran second in the 400 relay in 48.90

In the field Ginny Mehl took first in the javelin at 118 feet, 10 inches. She took second in the shot put at 41-07.25 and discus, 127-08.

For the boys senior Austin Brown ran second in the 400 in 49.74 and sixth in the 200 at 22.45.

In the 3,200 senior Graeme Schroeder ran second in 9.21.37 and fifth in the 1,600 in 4.21.54.

Kentlake

The Kentlake girls team took 18th scoring 12 and the boys 24th with four.

For the Falcon girls team Avalyne Peters took second in the high jump at districts clearing 5-02.

Jordon Fong took sixth in the javelin at 110.03 for the girls.

Andrew Dixon took fifth in discus for the boys team at 147-08 .

Kentwood

The girls team placed eighth with 36 and the boys 21st with seven.

For the Conks on the girls side Brittany Woke took second in the long jump reaching 17-08.50 and the triple jump at 37.05.

Alexia Thomas ran third in the 100 in 12.37.

The 400 relay team of Lauren Gross, Zaria Jones, Hailey Suit and Thomas took third in 48.93.

For the boys Sarbjot Nahal ran third in the 300 hurdles in 39.54.

SOCCER

Tahoma

The Tahoma boys soccer team is one W from the state championship round.

The Bears play Snohomish 8 p.m. at Sparks Stadium in the semifinal round. If Tahoma wins it plays the winner of Wenatchee and Central Valley. The championship game is 5 p.m. Saturday at Sparks, 601 7th Ave SW, Puyallup.

Tahoma opened the regional round of the state tournament by beating Kentridge 1-0 at home May 18. The Bears followed that with a 2-0 win over Mariner to move to the semifinal game.

Kentwood

After taking second in the district tournament the Conks lost in the first round of the state tournament falling 3-2 to Wenatchee.

BASEBALL

The Conks have reached the semifinal game at the state tournament and will be playing Woodinville 7 p.m. Friday at Gesa Stadium in Pasco.

The winner will play for the state 4A title 7 p.m. Saturday against the winner of Skyline and Wenatchee.

Kentwood opened the tournament with a 7-3 win over Walla Walla Saturday. The Conks beat Gig Harbor 7-4 the same day to move to the semifinal game.

FASTPITCH

Tahoma

The Bears will defend its 4A title in the first round of state at 10 a.m. today, Friday, against University. The state tournament is played Merkel Sports Complex in Spokane.

Tahoma took fifth in the district tournament, winning in the first round 3-1 to Graham Kapowsin. The Bears lost the next game 7-5 to Curtis and moved to the loser out bracket and beat South Kitsap 11-8 and Federal Way 8-5 to secure a state seed.

Kentlake

The Falcons lost its first two games at the district tournament, which closed out the season for Kentlake.

In the first round the Falcons lost to Federal Way 10-6 and next lost to Emerald Ridge 8-1.

TENNIS

Kentwood

Kentwood has two doubles teams playing at the state tournament at Columbia Basin Racquet Club and Richland High School beginning today, Friday.

Judith Nguyen and Sam Tate will play Sydney Wallace and Mackenzie Schreiner from Union.

Kathryn Araki and Danielle Mendoza play Kelsey Zhong and Reanne Lee from Skyline

Tahoma

Singles player Kianna Rem from Tahoma will play Amila Gogalija from Mountain View Friday.
