Black Diamond Citizenship Award winners announced at 3 p.m. today at Black Diamond Farmers Market

The award winners are selected by the Black Diamond Labor Days Committee of 2013.

Winners of the Black Diamond Citizenship Awards will be announced at 3 p.m. today at the Black Diamond Farmers Market located off state Route 169 and Roberts Drive. The award winners are selected by the Black Diamond Labor Days Committee of 2013.

Winners will also be honored at 2 p.m. Sept. 1 during the Black Diamond Labor Days Celebration at the Black Diamond Elementary School play field. All winners will be featured in the Labor Days Parade which is at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 2.

Categories include:

Lifetime Commitment: an individual giving 30 or more years of volunteer service to better the Black Diamond community

Citizen of the Year: an individual who provided an outstanding service to better the city in the past year

Civil Servant of the Year: an elected official or city employee who did an outstanding job serving residents

Community Service Groups: a youth and adult nonprofit group that did something significant for residents

Individual Community Service: an individual who did significant community service for the community

Business Owner of the Year: A business proprietor who supported residents in significant and varied ways

Hero in Action: Someone who provided selfless aid to others in an emergency situation
