Timothy Sean Brennan, 45, a science teacher Kentwood High School, was charged with two counts of communicating with a minor for immoral purposes.

He was booked into the Regional Justice Center on Jan. 4 and remains in custody. His bail is set at $150,000.

His arraignment is scheduled for 9 a.m. Monday, Jan. 22 at the RJC.

The district placed Brennan on administrative leave in November when they first heard about the incident.

According to a media release from the Kent School District Jan. 12, the district is working with law enforcement during this investigation.

“We take all possible safety issues seriously, care deeply about the welfare of every student we serve and remain committed to maintaining a professional and committed staff that offers each student dignity, respect and a safe place to learn and grow,” the release said.

On Nov. 7 King County Sheriff’s Office deputy and School Resource Officer for Kentwood spoke with an 11th grade student who reported a teacher had been inappropriately contacting her via Snapchat.

According to the charging documents, the student told the deputy she was first contacted during her freshman year from September 2015 through June 2016.

She said someone by the username “Seanbee4” had contacted her via Snapchat and within a few days had begun to make sexually explicit comments and also sent inappropriate photos. The images did not show the user’s face.

The student asked the user how he knew her and according to the charging documents, he responded that he couldn’t say because it would mess up his marriage and his job.

She told the deputy communication with the user continued on Snapchat. During her sophomore year, from September 2016 to June 2017, the user continued sending inappropriate photos as well as videos of himself.

The documents added she would tell him to stop but she would also engage in some conversation with him, hoping to discover his identity.

During her sophomore year, she saw Brennan at school wearing a jacket that the user “Seanbee4” had been wearing in some of the photos.

The next time she was contacted on Snapchat, the documents stated, she confronted him about who he was. The documents added he then admitted to her that he was Brennan.

Again she told him to stop and according to the documents, he stopped sending messages for about a month before he started back up again.

This time he reportedly told her there was a back office in his classroom where they could go “have some fun.”

She told the deputy that he made her nervous.

Aside from messages on Snapchat, the student said Brennan had also contacted her from his district email address. She said he would invite her to his classroom to do school work.

She said she found it odd because he was not one of her teachers and never had been, the documents stated.

The student also reported that Brennan had also shown up at her then-place of work, The Tukwila Family Fun Center, twice — once with his family and once without.

He made her uncomfortable, so she asked a co-worker to wait on him, the documents stated.

Because messages on Snapchat disappear and there often are no record of them, the student said that is why it took her so long to report the incidents. She felt like she would not be believed, the charging documents stated.

He was contacted Dec. 1, 2017 King County Sheriff’s Office detectives and invoked his right to remain silent and have legal representation. He turned himself in on Jan. 4.
