Learn about tree health with WSU at the library

Maple Valley residents are invited to a free workshop on forest health and tree problems, hosted by a local Washington State University (WSU) professor.

Residents dealing with sick or dying trees can learn how to recognize and possibly treat problems during the event, according to a WSU press release. Western Washington has seen an increase in tree mortality of the past few years, according to the news release.

Kevin Zobrist, an associate profess of forestry at WSU, will teach the workshop from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 4, at the Maple Valley Library, 21844 SE 248th St. Topics will include insects, diseases and drought, including how the changing environment affects the trees.
