Remember Monday is Memorial Day

Memorial Day is this weekend and city halls, offices, schools and other business will be closed.

The Kent and Tahoma School Districts will start school back up again on Tuesday, May 28. Covington and Maple Valley City Halls will also open back up on that Tuesday.

Both Covington and Maple Valley Police Departments are located at the city halls and may be closed on Memorial Day, but in case of an emergency, call 911 or you can call the King County Communications Center at 206-296-3311 for both cities.

Here are a few events going on around Covington and Maple Valley during Memorial Day:

■ There will be a ceremony to honor US Service Members who died while on active duty. The ceremony will be held at 1 p.m. at the Tahoma National Cemetery, 18600 SE 240th St., Kent.

■ The Clayopatra Arts Studio in Maple Valley is hosting an event called “Any Age Memorial Day Paint Event: Bob Ross style.” It begins at 12 p.m. on Monday, May 27. The Clayopatra Arts Studio is located at 23745 225th Ave. SE in Maple Valley.
