Want to go swimming while the weather is nice this holiday week? It’s a good idea to avoid Swim Beach at Lake Wilderness then.
According to a press release sent by the City of Maple Valley, Swim Beach is closed due to high levels of bacteria contaminate in the water.
“Beach closed signs were posted at the Lake Wilderness Park swim beach when high bacteria levels were tested on Monday [June 24],” the press release states. “King County Public Health recommends closing the beach to swimming, wading
and other water contact activities.”
This means the beach will be closed this weekend. In the meantime, the concession stand and boat rentals will continue except for paddleboards, depending on weather.
King County collected water samples on June 26 and samples will be collected again early Friday, June 28, and again the following week. If the tests have low levels it is possible the beach will open before July 4.
