Tahoma, Kent announce closures for Feb. 14

As crews continue to work, both districts announced classes will be canceled tomorrow.

As weather conditions continue to improve throughout the Puget Sound region, local school districts announced their plans for Thursday, Feb. 14.

The Tahoma School District announced Wednesday evening schools would again be closed.

According to a Facebook post, the Extended Enrichment Program at Lake Wilderness Elementary will open at 8 a.m. Thursday.

The Central Services Center will also be open Thursday.

The post continued, staff and contractors are clearing school parking lots and sidewalks of snow and ice but a lot of work still remains.

According to another Facebook posted Feb. 13, the district said it will determine what adjustments are needed regarding makeup days once the winter weather has passed.

The district confirmed next week’s mid-winter break will not change.

Kent School District

Due to continued slush and ice, power outages and maintenance needs due to the recent storms, the Kent School District announced it would again be closed Thursday, Feb. 14.

The Central Administrative Office will be open.

All activities have been canceled and there is no out of district transportation.

According to a Facebook post, the district will continue to update the public on school closures and any delays as well as any changes to the school calendar.
