Tukwila man pleads guilty to child pornography

The man faces at least 15 years in prison

A Tukwila man faces a long prison sentence after pleading guilty March 8 to production and possession of child pornography.

The 40-year-old man was arrested after his then-girlfriend found images on his phone of him sexually assaulting her daughter, then 6.

The Reporter is not publishing the man’s name due to the nature of the case.

According to court documents, the victim’s mother went to the Tukwila Police Department in October 2016 to report the assault. She told officers that she and the man had been dating for four years and that occasionally she and her daughter would spend the night at the man’s home.

The two were reportedly at the man’s home on Oct. 21 and 22, 2016. On the evening of Oct. 22, when the man was in the shower, the mother said she looked through his phone to see if he had pictures of other women. She said she saw three videos. In the videos, the man was seen masturbating in the presence of the victim, who was 6 years old at the time.

The mother said she asked the girl about the videos and how long the incidents had been taking place. She said the girl tearfully said she did not tell her about the incidents because she did not want get in trouble. The mother told officers she took the girl out to her car and then returned to the man’s house to confront him about the videos. According to court documents, the man told her, “I have a problem.” The mother took the phone to the police department to report the incident.

Officers attempted to locate the man on Oct. 22, 2016, but were unsuccessful. They found him the next morning at his mother’s home in Maple Valley and arrested him.

He was arrested and transported to the King County jail.

The man faces a mandatory minimum of 15 years in prison. The sentencing is scheduled for June 7.

Production of child pornography is punishable by 15 to 30 years in prison and possession of child pornography is punishable by up to 20 years in prison.
