Workshop helps owners deal with alder trees

A Managing Red Alder workshop will be held Sept. 29 at the Meridian Grange in Kent.

The workshop put on by the Washington State University Extension and King Conservation District will host the full day event featuring classroom sessions and a field tour.

Topics to be discussed include alder ecology, management options for over mature or dying stands, hardwood conversion, the red alder market along with other talking points.

The cost is $60 per person or $80 per couple. Pre-registration is required and closes on Sept. 27. Registration does include lunch.
