Adriana Justine Smith passed away Friday morning, October 4th, at the Franciscan Hospice House in University Place, Washington, following more than a year of battling cancer. Her passing came a day after her 44th birthday. Adriana was born on October 3, 1969 in Madison, Wisconsin, the daughter of Thomas and Charlotte Schwartz.
As a child, Adriana’s family lived in Wisconsin, Utah, California, Nigeria, Illinois and Minnesota. She graduated from Woodbury Senior High School in Woodbury, Minnesota in 1987 and later attended Brigham Young University. On October 10, 1992 she married Nicholas Smith in New Canaan, Connecticut. They were sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on July 31, 1993. Nick and Adriana made their home in Connecticut. Their two daughters, Madison and Alexandra, were born there. In 2007 the Smiths moved from Fairfield, Connecticut to Maple Valley, Washington.
She was blessed with a beautiful soprano singing voice and was active in performing. Adriana had a good eye for design and became masterful in scrapbooking. Her life journal is in the form of multiple scrapbooks, each artistically and thematically constructed.
She had many other interests and was an avid fan of the Harry Potter series. She had a remarkable sense of humor and appreciated her well-earned reputation as “the life of the party.”
Adriana is survived by her husband Nick and by their daughters Madison and Alexandra of Maple Valley, Washington. She is also survived by her parents, Thomas and Charlotte Schwartz, of Twin Falls, Idaho, her sister, Charlaan Johnson, of Boulder City, Nevada, and by her maternal grandmother, Velma Cox, of Twin Falls, Idaho. She was close to her aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will beheld 11 am, Tuesday, October 8, at the Church of Jesus Christ or Latter Day Saints in Maple Valley.
