Bears kick off new season with win

As temps drop and the sun sets earlier, high school sports have gone inside for the season.

The 2018-2019 basketball season tipped off Nov. 27 when Tahoma hosted Todd Beamer.

The Bears won its home opener 57-52.

Senior Kimball Cottam scored a team high 18 points Tuesday.

Senior Colton Dean shot three field goals and was 4 for 4 at the line, scoring the second highest for the Bears with 10 points.

The Bears will face Auburn Riverside next at 8:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1 at the Les Schwab TipOff Classic held at Auburn Riverside.

Around Town

The Kentwood Conquerors opened its season by hosting Todd Beamer Nov. 29.

The Conks won 46-23.

Next up for Kentwood is a 5 p.m. home game against Union on Saturday, Dec. 1.

The Kentlake Falcons do not tip off until 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4 when it hosts Kent-Meridian.
