Falcons start the season 2-0

The weather cooperated for a few days while the 2017-2018 baseball season got underway.

The Kentlake Falcons started its season winning two in a row.

The boys beat Emerald Ridge 9-2 Saturday and won over Auburn Riverside 3-2 Monday.

The Falcons opened its season with an away game against the Jaguars. Kentlake scored first with one run in the third inning.

The boys rallied and scored seven more in the fourth, taking an 8-0 lead over Emerald Ridge.

The Jaguars answered in the fourth with two runs but would be held scoreless the remainder of the game.

Kentlake scored one more run in the sixth.

Seniors Jacob Butler and Nik Hendrickson both scored two runs in Saturday’s win.

Also scoring for the Falcons were seniors David Hadsell, Zach Archibald, Dylan Mackie, junior J.J. Gerarden and freshman Jake Larson.

In Monday’s win the Falcons scored first again with one run in the second inning.

Auburn Riverside tied the game in the bottom of the second.

Kentlake answered in the third, scoring its final two runs of the game.

The Ravens scored one final time in the sixth inning.

Crossing home plate during the 3-2 win for the Falcons were Archibald, Mackie and Gerarden.

Archibald recorded the win and after one appearance on the mound, he has a 1.75 ERA. He pitched four innings and gave up one run on two hits.

Mackie pitched two innings Monday, walking one and striking out another.

Junior Kadin Salisbury pitched one inning. He gave up one run on one hit. Salisbury also walked two batters.

If the weather held up, the Falcons traveled to Auburn to face the Mountainview Lions Thursday.

Kentlake’s next scheduled game is today, Friday, March 16 at 4 p.m. against the Federal Way Eagles at Federal Way High School.

Kentwood

The Conquerors are 1-0 to start the new season.

The boys beat Rogers 5-4 Monday in Puyallup.

Kentwood led off the game scoring one in the first inning.

In the top of the third, the Conks added another run — taking a 2-0 lead over the Rams.

Rogers took the lead 3-2 in the bottom of the fourth inning. And added to its lead with another run in the bottom of the sixth.

Rallying in its final inning, Kentwood score three runs in the top of the seventh to take a 5-4 lead.

Kentwood’s Kenny Wilsey scored two runs while Alex Tan, Mateo Hernandez and Dyson Johnson scored the remaining runs.

Cole Trotignon recorded the win Monday. After his first outing he currently has a 3.5 ERA.

Trotignon pitched two innings giving up one run on four hits.

Johnson pitched three innings during Monday’s win — walking two and striking out five.

Weather permitting, the Conks hosted Redmond Thursday. Next up is a 10 a.m. game Saturday, March 17 at home against South Kitsap.

Tahoma

The Bears are also off to a 1-0 start after winning its first game Monday 4-3 over Roosevelt.

According to the North Puget Sound League’s website, the boys hosted Bothell Tuesday. The final score was not reported from that game at the time of press.

Tahoma is scheduled to host Rogers at 6:30 p.m. Friday, March 16.
