Tahoma High School’s Alaina Brady, girls track, was selected as the Covington Maple Valley Reporter’s Female Athlete of the Week for April 5.

Q: What is your favorite subject in school?

A: My favorite class is calculus because it is challenging. But it’s exciting when I finally understand.

Q: What other activities do you participate in?

A: I am on the high school swim team. I also coach a girl who lives in my neighborhood on the weekends.

Q: Person who has helped you succeed the most?

A: My high school and club coach, Henry Brown. He pushes me to improve, trust the process and let improvements happen at the right time.

Q: Do you have a pre- or post-game tradition? What is it?

A: Before a meet, I usually listen to Spanish pop music to hype myself up. After a meet, I always go get whatever junk food I had been craving that week.

Q: Song you currently can’t get enough of?

A: “El Pedron” by Nicky Jam and Enrique Iglesias

From the Sideline

“Alaina was named athlete of the meet at the Liberty Invite March 30. She finished first in the long jump, 100 hurdles and the lead leg of the 4×100 m relay. Alaina has put in countless hours of work on the track and in the weight room preparing for this season. She is a great example of how hard work pays off. She is also an amazing student in the class room with a 4.0 GPA.”
