Tahoma High School’s Hannah Weissman, girls swim, was selected as the Covington Maple Valley Reporter’s Female Athlete of the Week for Nov. 30.

Q: What is your favorite subject in school?

A: English

Q: What other activities do you participate in?

A: I enjoy reading, writing, baking and spending time with my friends and family.

Q: Person who has helped you succeed the most?

A: There are so many people that have helped me succeed. I have been blessed with many friends that push me during practice and hold me accountable. I have also been blessed with an amazing family that supports me and loves me no matter what. In addition, I have had the privilege to have amazing coaches that always want the best for me. All of these wonderful people that God has put in my life has shaped me to be the person and swimmer I am today. I would not be here without them.

Q: Do you have a pre- or post-game tradition? What is it?

A: Usually before a race, I like to stretch and get in the zone. I like to think about all the things I accomplished to get to this point and with all the support from my family and friends, I know I can accomplish my goal. I remind myself of all the wonderful things that God has given me and then I do what I love.

Q: Song you currently can’t get enough of?

A: I cannot get enough of Ariana Grande’s “Thank U, Next.”

From the Sideline

“Hannah Weissman, freshman at Tahoma, returned from the 4A state championship winning the 100 backstroke. Her time of 55.54 seconds was a school record and the 10th fastest time in 4A state history — also qualifying her for All-American consideration. She also placed ninth overall in the 100 butterfly and competed in two relays — the medley team placed third and the 400 freestyle placed fourth. She also finished her season with three individual school records.”
