The Falcons off to 1-1 start to 2018

Kentwood boys lead the league, Tahoma sits in the middle of the pack

The new year started with the Kentlake boys basketball team losing a close game to Kennedy Catholic before winning its last game Jan. 5.

The Falcons traveled to Renton and beat the Hazen Highlanders 63-52.

With the win, Kentlake improved to 4-9 overall and 3-5 in league play.

The Hazen Highlanders are currently in last place in their division behind Kentlake.

Michael Alar, junior guard, scored multiple times during the game when Hazen least expected it.

Jalen Taylor, sophomore guard, handled the ball well throughout the game.

Garrett Eversole, a junior, scored during this game as well. One of his shots came from off the side of the court, making for an unexpected shot.

The Falcons played an away game Tuesday at Kent-Meridian. This game was played after the press deadline.

Kentlake returns home to host Mount Rainier at 7 p.m. today, Friday, Jan. 12.

Around The League

Currently sitting in the No. 1 spot in the North Puget Sound League 4A Cascade Division are the undefeated Kentwood Conquerors.

The Conks are 8-0 in league play and 11-2 overall.

The most recent win for Kentwood came Friday against Kennedy Catholic, 73-55.

The boys traveled to face Mount Rainier Tuesday before returning home to host Hazen at 7 p.m. today, Friday, Jan. 12.

In the middle of the NPSL 4A Cascade Division pack are the Tahoma Bears.

The Bears are 3-5 in league and 6-8 overall.

Tahoma beat the Kentridge Chargers 67-51 Friday. The win is Tahoma’s second in a row.

The Bears hope to keep the streak alive when the boys traveled to Kennedy Catholic Tuesday. The game was played after the press deadline.

Tahoma will return to Maple Valley today, Friday, Jan. 12 for a 7 p.m. tip off against the Kent-Meridian Royals.
