Williams to transfer from UW to Montana State

The Reporter first announced now-Tahoma graduate Amandre William’s intentions to play collegiate football at the University of Washington in August 2015.

And after three seasons with the Huskies it was announced Dec. 19 that he is transferring to Montana State.

According to an article in the Missoulian, Williams signed a financial aid agreement with the Bobcats in November.

He will join the Bobcats next month.

“We feel like Amandre can have an immediate impact on our defense,” Montana State coach Jeff Choate said in the Missoulian article.

Though Williams started as quarterback for Tahoma, he was scouted by the Huskies to play defensive end.

Williams saw gametime for the University of Washington in 2017 and 2018.

During the 2017 season as a redshirt freshman, he recorded six tackles and one and a half sacks.

As a sophomore during this year’s season, 2018, Williams played seven games.

He recorded seven tackles and a pass breakup for the Huskies.

According to Montana State’s website, Williams will play outside linebacker for the Bobcats.

Montana State begins its 2019 season Saturday, Aug. 31 at Texas Tech.
